Who we are

FreeCodes.in is an independent site publishing verified game cheat codes and redeem codes. We decide how and why your information is handled here, and you can reach us at any time at [email protected].

What we collect

When you simply read the site

You do not need an account to read anything on FreeCodes, and browsing does not require you to tell us who you are. Our analytics records aggregate technical information — page URL, referring site, approximate country, device type and browser — which is used to understand which guides are useful, not to identify you.

If you create an account

Accounts are optional and exist so you can take part in the community features we are building. If you register we collect and store:

• Your display name and email address, so we can identify your account and contact you about it.
• Your password, as a bcrypt hash. We never store it in readable form. Nobody at FreeCodes can see or recover your password — we can only help you set a new one.
• Whether your email address has been verified, and the date it was.
• The IP address used at sign-up and at each sign-in, together with the time. We keep this to detect abuse, blocked sign-in attempts and bulk registration.
• Whether you opted in to email updates. This is off unless you choose it, and you can turn it off again at any time.

If you post in the community

Anything you post — comments, replies or contributions to a guide — is public, shown alongside your display name, and may remain readable after you delete your account unless you delete the posts as well. Please do not put anything private in a public post. We also keep the IP address a post came from, for moderation and spam handling.

If you email us

We hold your message and email address for as long as it takes to deal with your enquiry, and for a short period afterwards in case you follow up. Reports that a code has stopped working may be kept longer, without your contact details, so we have a record of when a code was last checked.

Why we use it

• To run your account — because you asked us to create one and we cannot provide it otherwise.
• To keep the site secure — rate limiting, blocking abuse and spam. We have a legitimate interest in not letting the site be attacked or flooded.
• To understand what to write next — aggregate analytics.
• To fund the site — advertising, described below.
• To send you email updates — only where you have opted in, and only until you opt out.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser. We use:

• Essential cookies — a sign-in cookie if you have an account. It is HTTP-only, meaning scripts on the page cannot read it, and it expires on its own. Without it you cannot stay signed in.
• Analytics cookies — to count visits in aggregate.
• Advertising cookies — set by Google and its partners, described in the next section.

You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Everything you can read on FreeCodes will still work; you simply will not be able to stay signed in.

Third-party advertising

This site is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service operated by Google, to serve ads on our pages.

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• These advertising cookies may be used for ad personalisation, frequency capping, and measuring the performance of ad campaigns. Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices. Opting out does not remove ads — it means the ads you see are less likely to be tailored to you.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we never will. We share only what is necessary with the services that run the site: our hosting provider, our analytics provider, the email service that sends verification and password-reset messages, and Google for advertising. Each processes data on our instructions. We will also disclose information where the law genuinely requires it.

How long we keep it

• Account details — until you delete your account, plus a short grace period in case the deletion was a mistake.
• Sign-in records and IP addresses — a rolling period of around 12 months, for security.
• Public posts — until you or we remove them.
• Email correspondence — until the enquiry is resolved, and a short period afterwards.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• Give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Delete your account and personal information.
• Stop sending you email updates, at any time.
• Stop using your information for a particular purpose.

Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. We will not charge you, and we will not make the site worse for you because you asked.

Deleting your account

You can ask us to delete your account at any time. When you do, your name, email address and password hash are removed. Public posts you made are not automatically deleted, because removing them can break conversations other people took part in — tell us in the same message if you want them taken down too, and we will remove them.

How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and are never readable by us. Sign-in sessions are held server-side and can be revoked immediately. Sign-in attempts are rate limited to make guessing impractical. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if a breach ever affects your data.

Children

FreeCodes is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not intended for them. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

Where your data is handled

Our hosting and service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where that happens we rely on those providers' standard contractual protections to keep your information covered to the same standard.

Our guides link to official game sites and redemption pages. Once you follow a link away from FreeCodes, this policy no longer applies and the privacy policy of the destination site takes over.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes we will update the effective date at the top of this page, and we will say so on the site if the change is significant. Questions about privacy, or any request about your data, can be sent to [email protected].
