Subnautica
Subnautica Console Commands
Subnautica hides its console behind a sequence nobody would guess: a debug overlay, a cursor unlock, and a checkbox. Once it is on, the commands themselves are the simplest of any game on this site — single words, lower case, no hexadecimal anywhere.
The builder assembles item and spawn commands with the amount in place.
Subnautica does disable achievements the moment you enter any command, for the rest of that session. This is the opposite of Skyrim and Fallout 4, where the console carries no penalty at all.

Switching the Console On
Three steps, in order. Press F3 to bring up the debug overlay. Press F8 to release the mouse cursor so you can click things. Then untick the Disable Console checkbox at the top left of the overlay.
From that point the console opens with the tilde key or Enter, and F3 puts the overlay away again. The setting persists, so this is a one-off — but it resets if the game’s options are cleared, which is why the sequence is worth writing down.
Commands are single words in lower case with their arguments after a space. There are no IDs to look up and no case sensitivity to worry about, which makes this the friendliest console of the six games in this cluster.
item, spawn and When Each One Fails
item puts something directly into your inventory: item copperwire 5 gives you five copper wire. It only works for things you could physically carry, so asking for a Cyclops with it does nothing.
spawn places the thing in the water in front of you instead, which is how you get vehicles, structures and creatures. spawn seaglide 1 drops a Seaglide at your feet.
The failure mode worth knowing is spawning something large in a confined space. A Cyclops spawned inside a base or up against a rock face can end up wedged in the terrain, and there is no in-game way to free it. Surface, find open water, then spawn.
Some items have their own shortcut commands. seaglide gives you one directly, madloot hands over a starter kit of knife, builder, scanner, tanks and materials, and vehicleupgrades grants every vehicle module at once.
Unlocking Blueprints Without Ruining the Game
unlockall learns every blueprint in the game in one line. It is also the single most regretted command in Subnautica, because the game is largely about finding those blueprints — running it removes the exploration loop entirely and there is no way to undo it on that save.
unlock followed by a single blueprint name is the version worth using. It solves the actual problem, which is usually one specific fragment that has not spawned where the wiki says it should, without deleting the rest of the game.
ency all fills the databank with every entry, which spoils the story rather than the progression. precursorkeys grants the late-game door keys and is squarely in spoiler territory.
Because achievements switch off for the session the moment you type anything, there is no partial-credit approach here. If you are working towards achievements, finish that run first and keep the console for a separate save.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I enable the console in Subnautica?
Press F3 for the debug overlay, F8 to release the mouse cursor, then untick the Disable Console box at the top left. The console then opens with the tilde key or Enter.
Do Subnautica console commands disable achievements?
Yes. Entering any command disables achievements for the rest of that session. This is different from Skyrim and Fallout 4, where console use carries no achievement penalty.
What is the difference between item and spawn?
item puts something into your inventory and only works for things you can carry. spawn places it in the water in front of you, which is how you get vehicles, structures and creatures.
How do I get a Cyclops with a console command?
Use spawn rather than item, and do it in open water. A Cyclops spawned inside a base or against terrain can wedge itself somewhere you cannot free it from.
Should I use unlockall?
Probably not. It learns every blueprint at once and removes the exploration the game is built around, and it cannot be undone on that save. unlock followed by a single blueprint name solves the usual problem — one missing fragment — without the rest.
Are console commands case sensitive in Subnautica?
No. Commands and item names are lower case single words and the game is forgiving about it, which makes this console much simpler than Valheim’s case-sensitive one.
