How to Change Your BGMI Name

  1. Copy a style

    Type your name above and copy a version at fourteen characters or under. Anything longer is refused when you confirm, and a refused name does not give the card back.

  2. Get a Rename Card

    Buy one from the in-game shop for 180 UC, or claim the free card granted at level 10. Event and mission rewards occasionally include one.

  3. Open your inventory

    Go to Inventory and tap the crate icon in the bottom-right corner. The Rename Card sits with your other consumable items.

  4. Use the card

    Tap Use, paste the copied name into the text box, and press OK. The card disappears from your account and the nickname updates straight away.

What a BGMI Rename Costs

BGMI does not let you pay for a name change directly. You need a Rename Card, and the card is what gets consumed — the price of a rename is the price of the card. In the shop it is 180 UC, the game’s premium currency.

There is a free one. Reaching level 10 grants a Rename Card without spending anything, which is enough for most players to fix the name they picked in a hurry on their first day. Events and mission tracks hand out further cards periodically, so it is worth checking the rewards tab before buying.

Whatever you spend, the change is capped at one per day. Holding three cards does not buy three renames in an afternoon; the second attempt is refused until the day rolls over.

Which Symbols BGMI Accepts

Two things are refused outright: blank spaces and emoji. A name has to be a single unbroken run of characters, which is why so many BGMI names use a separator symbol where a space would go — the separator is a character the field accepts, and a space is not.

The stylish letters this tool produces are ordinary Unicode characters rather than images, so they are stored and displayed like any other letter. Heavier decorative frames are the ones most likely to be turned away, and there is no way to tell in advance other than trying — which is an expensive way to find out when the attempt costs a card.

Your name also has to be unique. If another player already holds it, BGMI refuses the change and you keep the card, so a rejected duplicate is not the disaster a rejected format would be. Adding a stylish variant of the same word is the usual way around a name that is taken.

How do I get a free Rename Card in BGMI?

Do I lose the Rename Card if the name is rejected?

A name refused because it is already taken does not consume the card — the game blocks the change before it is applied. It is still worth checking the length and format first, because the card is single-use once a change goes through.
